Oh for the LOVE

A few weeks ago Heath asked me “what does sexy mean?”  our conversation went like this...
Jana: what do you think it means?
Heath: Like Hot?
Jana: what kind of hot?
Heath: Sweaty, hot?
I explained it means you look so good to someone that they really want to kiss you on the lips.  He was quiet for a while then said a little perplexed, "you think dad is sexy?"   I answered yes.  On Valentine's day he wanted to spike his hair, after checking himself out in the mirror he asked, "Mom what if you don't want to be kissed but you look sexy?"  Oh for the Love Heath.
Love Bennett's smile, he liked the song.
After a snow storm and my direction skills which I lack, I was finally able to find a few of my friends for part of a girl’s weekend and while the snow did give me an extra unplanned night.   It was therapeutic; I just needed it to be longer.   While we were shopping and trying on clothes, well the other girls were, I was hanging out by the fitting rooms.  This girl probably in her 20’s came out of the dressing room in a strapless sequin tube top jump suit and asked us Mormon moms in our 30’s “Is this how you wear this?” I wish I could have witnessed our stunned faces, I know my first thought was “no one should wear that”,  I thought about Annette who can wear ANYTHING and thought that wouldn’t even look good on her.  Our stunned silence must have helped, I found it on the rack, so I tried it on you just can’t get the full awfulness of it because I made it modest.
We were inspired to show our how to wear it knowledge with these hot numbers. Oh for the love what I really know how to wear is a hoodie.
In my mind Valentine’s Day is for the kids.  I was a slacker this year I didn’t do much, no love notes in their lunches etc.  We did a Love FHE and tried I feel statements.  This was VERY good for my left-brained boy.  I think it helped me recognize when he feels love.  He got better at expressing his feelings too, which is a tough one for me too.  I knew we had success when he said “Wow! Mom you really do love me”.  He just needed to be aware of it.  This experience did bring me to a parenting question.  Why does one child take praise of another child as a personal attack on them?  Rianne gets so defensive when I would complement Heath.  I felt like shouting the line from Incredibles “It’s NOT ABOUT YOU”.  More importantly how do I fix it?   I guess she is a little too comfortable in the role of the golden child ;)

Bennett also LOVES the vacuum it is pretty funny the second you turn it on he comes running and he loves to climb on it.  I wish all my kids were so enthused about chores.  Oh for the Love, parenting is not for the weak hearted!

I did make them a HEARTY breakfast with a love ballad “Don’t go BACON my heart”, which Brant added “I couldn’t if I FRIED” Our life is a musical; we were amused even if the kids weren’t!

As for our romantic evening, we had a great date night playing games with friends.  We played the game Telestrations. We had some great laughs, Brant was amused with himself.  For the Love, nothing is quite as Sexy as a muscle cat, wish I had a picture of it for you to get the full effect.
